Take a Chance - Abbi Glines

Okay WOW! I have to admit that it took me a long time to read this book. I was a little afraid to be honest. Not because I didn’t think I would like this book but because I knew exactly how AMAZING this book would be and I knew exactly how excruciating the cliffhanger would be. So… I waited until part two (One More Chance- Review to come) was out. I wanted to read it SO bad. But still, I waited.

“I don’t do possessive and crazy. Never have. But you. . . I want to wrap you up and run off with you so no one can touch you again. Just me. Always me.”

This book just flipping blew me away. Like… BOOM. Of course, I knew it would be incredible. I mean, Abbi Glines wrote it after all. Grant and Harlow’s story was beautiful, passionate, sweet, and heartbreaking. I loved every single second of reading this book. I loved every single word on every single page. Just, wow.

“I think about you. I dream about you,” he said in a husky whisper against my ear. I shivered and felt my grip on my chicken loosen. God, please don’t let me dump my food on myself. “You’re too sweet for me, but damned if I care,” he said, then pressed a kiss to the skin under my ear.”

Grant loved Harlow to such a degree that I could just FEEL it. He was afraid, but he loved her. Completely. & She loved him just as much. Their relationship was not perfect. There were so many things that made it difficult. Of course, one of the biggest problems was Nan. (Still a #NanHater). But their story was incredibly beautiful despite all of the problems that existed between them. It was inspiring. It was the kind of love story that makes me believe in true love.

“I would do whatever I had to do to keep her. Hell, I’d move to L.A. if I had to. I wasn’t letting her go. For the first time in my life I felt home. “I told you so,” I whispered against her lips before claiming her mouth again.”

There isn’t a single thing wrong with this book. It was perfect. Beginning to end. What was so great about it you ask? Well, I will tell you. The writing. Abbi Glines knows how to write a freaking book let me tell you. I had to stop a few times during this book because the awesomeness of it just was so intensely awesome. The words just flow together so perfectly. I went through so many emotions while reading this book that it is ridiculous. Ridiculously awesome.

“It was your name I cried out. I was drunk, but even drunk it was you I was fantasizing about. Once I got a taste of you, nothing else worked for me. You were all I could think about.”

The characters. I always loved Grant. I was a little bit mad for his whole thing with Nan… but I loved him. And I loved Harlow. She was so sweet that it was hard not to love her and I loved how she didn’t take any crap from Nan (or Grant). But… Grant and harlow together? It. Was. Epic. Mase was also a really awesome character as well. He was fiercely protective, loyal, and cared so much about Harlow. Plus, I LOVED catching up with Rush and Blaire and Woods and Della. There were a moment between Rush, Blaire, and Nate that just made me squeal with happiness. So sweet!

“But Woods made that happen,” she said. Harlow wasn’t stupid. “Yeah, he did. I didn’t ask him to, though. That was all him, and probably Rush, from the look on his face.” Harlow glanced over at them and they both quickly looked away from us..”

The steam. It. Was. Hot.  I had to fan myself a few times. Grant is really quite skilled in the art of dirty talk. Just, wow. Even after all of the steamy books that I have read I was still blushing through a good part of this book.

“I want you. I’ve wanted you since the moment I laid eyes on you. When I was buried inside of you I knew then I was sunk. Those pretty hazel eyes and angelic smile had started digging inside me and making themselves at home in my heart. But that night. . . you claimed me, and I can’t shake it. I can’t forget it.”

Then there was story itself. I went in blind as to what the story was actually about (you know, other than that it was about Grant & Harlow). I am so glad that I did. I really wasn’t expecting that. It was heartbreaking. All I want to do right now is go into my kindle and hug Grant. Then smack him upside the head. Then hug him some more.

“You chose me” was all he said. His warm breath against my skin made me shiver, and his body mimicked mine. He pulled back and looked at me. “I will make this good for you. I swear.”

If you haven’t read Abbi Glines before, I suggest you do. Like immediately.
